Anyhow, Chalyj just said that Russia is freaked out by the possibility of
being surrounded by NATO, and they want their spheres of influence. He said
he doesn't think it is even EU association, because he says it will take 15
years for Ukraine to even reach the point of being considered a potential
member of EU. He says it's NATO incursion that worries Russia. He also
feels Obama is soft because of the Russian nuclear position. He quoted
Brzezinski and Kissinger, saying that they are suggesting neutrality, and
Ukraine should go forward and announce this.
I am not a politico, but the Budapest memorandum has not been adhered to.
Ukraine gave up the nukes, and now Lavrov is making speeches about how
important krym is to Russia. Next it will be how important Kyiv is to
Russia. If Ukraine now accepts neutrality, what next?
