Sad?????? No no no no. Pathetic and inexcusable. If many in Ukraine had
been educated and learned the true history of Russian/soviet rule over
Ukraine i.e. Baturyn 1708, Catherine II destruction of the Zaporizhian Sich
and the Hetmanate , deportation of Kalnyshevsky and the institution of
serfdom, ban on the Ukrainian language ie Valuyev decree and Ems Ukaz then
the history of the CCCP which needs no elaboration then not one would have
defected. In light of such historical background there should not have
been a single soldier who chose to defect to Russia.

Another possibility is that those of the 500 who defected may have been
Russian Spetznaz and FSB infiltrators. Who knows what took place in the
last 5 years under the Yanuk regime and how many Russians infiltrated the
government, military and security services. And who knows if the 130 men
who remained loyal aren't infiltrators whose job it will be to sabotage
Ukrainian resistance.

The 370 who switched allegiance to Russia are traitors PERIOD and should be
court-martialed and shot for treason and desertion. Why is this allowed to
happen? This will only serve to demoralize the rest of the military and
population. They betrayed their oaths and loyalty. Perhaps now many in east
and southern Ukraine will stop referring to "western Ukraine nationalist
Banderites" as Nazi collaborators who betrayed their own people and nation.
Banderites never will renege on their oath and swear allegiance to Russia.
With the passing of time Ukraine is looking more and more like a failed
state, just as in 1917-1920.

WTF INDEED
