Re: [politics] Russian flags flood Crimean capital as thousands back takeover - 9Mar2014

The reversals of russification and sovietization with the new younger
post-soviet generation is an indicator for Putin and Russia to behave the
way they are. It is a neo-soviet imperialist reaction to Ukraine
re-asserting its own identity. Even if de-russification has been slow in
Donbas there are also political and socioeconomic factors to consider in
favor of Ukrainian independence. This area has always been a troublesome
area even under the soviets. Although they may oppose Kyiv on certain
issues I doubt that they would prefer to return to Moscow's yoke where
Putin's heavy hand will be heavier on their shoulders.
