It is not like such a thing is not unheard of, aka:

Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact 1939
Yalta Conference 1945
Each time each treaty had serious ramifications for Ukraine and
Ukraine was never at the table or had a choice in the matter.
Also consider, by seceding Crimea to Russia means Ukraine loses
access to all the potential gas fields to the west of Crimea and
any gas found in the Sea of Azov. That energy alone could make
Ukraine energy independent without resorting to fracking on the
mainland.
The only thing that may make something like that barely-palatable
is immediate entry as a full member into NATO and the EU. Russia
would never allow that as they want to continue to interfere in
the internal affairs of Ukraine and continuing wedging of territory.
