Tensions Rise Between Ukraine And Russia Over CrimeaThe longer before Ukraine reacts to this invastion - and this IS an invasion - the more Russia's actions are seemed to be legitimized (remember the old schoolyard saying: possession is two thrids of the law).

Don't count on the United States - after all, ONE week ago they kept thier athletes in Sochi - as did Canada, Germany and everyone else - didn't they?! As I've said before, there was money to be made, gold to be won, empires to maintain. This is not cynicism, just realism.

MOSCOW, March 1 (Reuters) - Russia's upper house of parliament on Saturday approved a proposal by President Vladimir Putin to deploy Russian armed forces in Ukraine's Crimea region.

The Federation Council voted overwhelmingly to back a proposal to use "the armed forces of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine until the normalisation of the socio-political situation in that country."

It said the decision took effect immediately.
