if Saudi Arabia does not play ball, releasing the strategic oil
reserves would do the exact same thing. The pain would last longer
if the Saudi's increased production at the same time.
It is quite literally the nuclear option.
It would nuke Russia's economy -- he can't rearm his military,
wage a war, and keep the masses happy all at the same time if
the price of oil is below some magic level.
