Dear Friends!

Over four months ago Ukraine entered its most challenging period since
independence. The pace and intensity with which events developed was
astonishing: from peaceful protests we moved to street fights against
brutal government forces, a fortress erected in the heart of the
capital, the invasion of Crimea and its annexation to Russia...

During all this time the Kyiv Post team worked around the clock, seven
days a week, to bring our readers the latest news andinsight. But
dedication and spirit can only go so far, especially when faced with
unexpected costs. This is why we asked readers for support, starting a
donation campaign to support independent
journalismhttp://www.kyivpost.com/payment/?section=donate

These funds have helped our journalists and photographers go to Donetsk,
Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Luhansk and Crimea, to bring our readers
eyewitness accounts and photos from these hotspots.

Thanks to such donations, we had a chance to record an interview with
Pavel Gubarev (the self-proclaimed leader of Donetsk) just before he was
jailed, speak to Gennadiy Kernes in Kharkiv after the tide turned
against him and his federalist Ukrainian Front, and provide live reports
from Belbek Airbase and the streets of Simferopol.

We believe that each donated hryvnia shows that our job is needed by
those who, in fact, we are working for -- our readers.

At present, several Kyiv Post journalists remain in Crimea and southern
Ukraine, and our team continue to cover events throughout the country.
And we can do so with the help our community, which trusts us and allows
us to stay independent.

Thank you,

The Kyiv Post team
