Sherman's scorching March to Sea during the Civil War conquered the land but embittered the population.. It did nothing to erase the divide and bring the nation together to heal. The South will rise again still resonates in my area.

To this day, that policy has active repercussions. I do not mean to compare the 2 situations but vitriolic statements are good for sound bites in the media and ralllying cries, not government policy.

Only those whose earth is scorched suffer while the overlords sip champagne.
