BREAKING. Ukraine to withdraw troops from Crimea.
The National Security and Defence Council has ordered the Defence
Ministry to redeploy the military units based in Crimea, Speaker of the
Verkhovna Rada/Acting President Oleksandr Turchynov has announced at the
parliament coordination board meeting.
Tonight provocations of the Russian Federation occupational troops in
the Crimea against Ukrainian Armed Forces continued: particularly,
Ukrainian marine unit located near Feodosia was attacked by military
helicopters and airborne forces. "There is a real threat to lives and
health of our military men located in the Crimea, a threat of
persecution and victimization of their relatives, of all patriots who
keep fulfilling their duties to their country", claimed Oleksandr Turchynov.
"The National Defence and Security Council decided to instruct the
Ministry of Defence to reposition military unites located in the Crimea,
and to instruct the government to evacuate families of the military
facing threat to their lives and health", said the Chairman of the
Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. "The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine was
instructed to ensure placement of military men's families, as well as of
those forced to leave their homes under the pressure and aggression of
the Russian occupational forces."
