In a very, very serious crunch, countries find the means to cooperate with
each other. Even enemies can become temporary friends. Like Uncle Joe and
the Allies during WWII. And even in the coldest moments of the Cold War, I
can't recall that the USSR ever stopped delivering natural gas to Europe, or
that Europe ever missed a payment.

One sanctions idea recently suggested that might be effective is for people
to put pressure on their governments to halt the Russian airplanes from
flying to Western airports. Another symbolic sanction in the Western Canada
provinces are already being talked about is halting sales of Russian vodka,
such as Russian Standard, Stolichnaya, Smirnov and others.
