The word TREASON is written all over this saga. Krym was
surrendered without even a token resistance. Many things could have been
done without shots fired and bloody casualties. For exmple, there are only
three roads from Kerch which could have been easily blocked by the marines
stationed in Feodossia to prevent reinforcements to be delivered by ferry
in Kerch. One of the two ferries could have been sunk in the channel for
the same reason. The whole marine BRIGADE could have left with all the
weapons and equipment. The Russians were not even able to prevent a
platoon of paratroopers from doing so. A HALF of the Ukrainian Navy was
lost due to inaction which looks like sabotage (treason) to me.
The marines and the coastal defence brigade had enough strengh to take
under control administrative buildings in Simferopol and all the access
roads on the day one when the Green Martians were weak. Two hundred of
unarmed airmen with flags...that's all... It is actually a wonder that the
airbase at Beelbek fell the last. They did not have much of weaponry for
resistance. The entire airbase looked to me more like a grave yard of
disabled and aged MiGs than enything capable to wage a meaningful warfare.
I cannot say anything bad about Colonel Mamchur in this instance, he was
betrayed like anybody else of the Ukrainian military in Krym.
