The US and Europe: friendly enough, as long as it doesn't cost too
much. That's actually both understandable and imitable. Ukraine should
do the same. The stronger it gets the better deals it can negociate.
The more people who can make a difference in Ukraine get the message,
the better things will be. In other words, if you wish to be a subject
in history, then think and act like one.
I am very optimistic really.
I think Putin (apart from his nuclear arsenal) has very little Ukraine
can't cope with. He pounced at a moment of extreme vulnerability. I
don't think he'll take any more chances. If Ukraine remains vigilant
and continues to strengthen in all areas, things will be OK.
One small indicator: the document incorporating the Crimea also as I
understand it proclaims that the frontier between Ukraine and the
Crimea is "permanent". This was actually defended by the big apologist
of the Russkij Mir Slutsky, and opposed by the clown Zhirinovsky, who
"wants more".
There seems to be a breathing spell. It's basically up to Ukraine to
take advantage of this. And prove eventually that Slutsky is as wrong
as Zhirinovsky.
