Unfortunately here is the reality:
Kerry and co. don't give a rat's a** about Ukraine as such. They are
interested in maintaining the world system as it has been built up
since the end of WWII. Russia is an important part of the system.
Ukraine has a bit of "luck" in that its continued existence in now
viewed as essential to the system. But Kerry and co. would like to
avoid actions which would massively destabilize Russia, thus creating
a bigger problem than the one Russia is presenting with its attack on
Ukraine. They'll try to find something. If possible. C'est la vie.
