Mykolaiv and Odesa also out of reach. BTW Odesa has become the new
effective base of Ukraine on the Black Sea (temporarily).

Putin had hoped to control the whole basin by adding Kherson,
Mykolaiv, and Odesa to the Crimea. He could then have territorial
contact with the Transdnister republic rogues in Moldavia.

He could still try. But "local" forces are too weak.
