LoL -- you are so correct -- Patton was a brilliant strtegist and
understood the CCCP -- it would have stopped alot of pain in
Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union. The Soviet army would
have collapsed.
The brutality of the Soviet army in coming thru a village
and recruiting soldiers and throwing them on the front line
without training and weapons would not endear loyalty. The
only thing that the Soviets had was the NKVD units with machine
guns ensuring they did not retreat. So is this a tactic in play
with the present Russian government?
Even Berkut were saying on the 2nd day of the assault on the Maidan
that they were not paid enough to do what they were asked -- and
they were paid much better than anybody else.
So yes against marines & spetznatz Ukraine will have a tough
time but against the mainstream conscripts of the mainstream
Russian army in a big invasion? Not so sure.
Ukrainians will have the psychological edge as they would be
fighting for their homes. Russians are the invading force.
Especially when the locals treat them as the periah -- may take
time but they may wane and fail. Do not forget that.
