These analysts are apologists. There is still too much of a
Soviet mindset in some of these characters. At times when I
watch these programs I have a strong desire to whack them
on the side of the head so they would wake up and lose the
mindset. So that they would start using their brain instead
of regurgitating what they were taught back in the school
system of the CCCP.
One simple fact counts, Yanukovych is in charge. The buck
stops with him.
Yanukovych also lies all the time, so how can anybody believe
him when he says the dog ate his homework. He is the President
and so he has authority, but with that he also has the
responsibility. I believe there is a quote along those lines
in Spiderman. :)Yes the quote is:
"With Great Power there must also come -- Great Responsibility!"
I suspect Klyuyev & Medvedchuk have greater loyalty to Moscow
than Ukraine and could be playing Putin's game to draw Ukraine
back into the empire, but Yanukovych put them in these positions
of power as he did Azarov. Thus Yanukovych is responsible. He
also has the power to remove power from these individuals if
they are not acting in an above board manner.
I also believe the analysts do not think along the line of a
criminal mind. Yanukovych has that criminal mindset. He has
been in prison twice and probably learned a wrong life lesson
that one needs to exert physical force to get what one wants
and/or needs. He has done that over his entire life and sees
that as a successful tactic.
Donetsk was the training ground to maintain the CCCP, and force
was a major component of the standard MO. Problem is analysts
and media use common sense what a normal human being would do --
Yanukovych is not normal and as stated earlier, I believe he is
a sociopath. Human norms do not apply to him. Part of being a
sociopath is no feelings of empathy and they don't care if
others like them, they just have to be respected and fear/brutality
is a common tool of the criminal elements to achieve such
respect.
So the tactics being used actually make total sense from that
perspective.
Generate fear and intimidate your opponents and if they lack
fear, kill them. It worked well for Stalin, Mao, Lenin,
the Kim family in North Korea, Pol Pot, and the leaders of
many other dictatorial totalitarian states.
The analysts should stop making excuses for Yanukovych.
The buck starts and stops with him.
